Haven Records was formed in Norwich, UK in the late eighties by Johnny and Derek. Its ethos from that day to the present has been to act as a 'haven' for songwriters to develop and launch their musical careers. Early acts and successes included the Cambridge-based indie pop-folk band The Bible, Scarlet, and Swan Dive.
The Bible's frontman, Boo Hewerdine, would go on to become the driving force behind Haven, and over the years the label has mirrored his work as a solo artist, band member, and producer.
Roll on to 2026 and Haven has relaunched, with Boo acting as the creative centre of the reinvigorated UK-based independent label, which champions singer-songwriter music of the highest quality.
Call Me Anna : Fall Of A Leaf
In Feb 2025 Anna was named a 'highly recommended artist' after being selected to perform at Celtic Connections in Glasgow on the Danny Kyle Open Stage.
Hope Flies With Swallows Wings was picked up by BBC Introducing in January 2024. Anna's debut EP is now here and is titled FALL OF A LEAF. It showcases her song writing and emoitive voice.
Anna's own songs are otherworldly. Her clarinet brings a chamberesque flavour to her enchanting sense of melody. Fall Of A Leaf is the beginning of us sharing in her recording adventure. The EP was recorded in July 2024 at Saltwell Studios, near Cambridge with Boo Hewerdine and Chris Pepper.
Boo Hewerdine : Understudy
New studio album Understudy finds Boo in reflective mood with a fatalistic yet joyful narrative running throughout the lyrics , songs about these strange times individually and globally. Some of his finest to date. About the album Boo says...
We've all been going through the strangest time. This album was written in my Glasgow flat. I was unable to visit my dad in his care home. But we would talk every day. I turned 60 (I'm 25 in real life). I lost dad. I fell in love with my home life. I rediscovered the joy of writing all the time. I made new remote friends. This album is reflection of this strange time. It is a record.
Written in Glasgow - recorded with long time collaborator Chris Pepper in East Anglia
